Bailbrook House Hotel in Bath
We always emphasise that we hand pick our hotels. In the case of Bailbrook House Hotel, I feel almost as if Bath chose us and trusted us with the restoration of a mansion which has been part of the city since the 18th century. This is our first city hotel.

Bailbrook is Grade II* listed, in a conservation area and with Bath’s status as a World Heritage Site - it was a very special undertaking.

A £10 million restoration by a specialist team of architects, designers and craftsmen has transformed the hotel. It was originally built as a private home in the early 1790s but spent most of its life as an institution - as a school, a residential home, a training centre, and latterly for conferences, with people passing through but never staying to appreciate the grandeur of the mansion. Our main aim was to restore life into the building and bring it back to its original status as an elegant country house – built for pleasure.

Throughout the building, fireplaces, original sash windows, plaster mouldings, internal doors and staircases have been restored. In the basement, the space has been converted into the stunning Cloisters restaurant, creating a feature of impressive stone coffers that were meticulously cleaned and repaired by specialists, who took three months to restore every single block of stone. Windows have been unblocked and the loggia properly glazed to flood the area with light.

The restoration in the Mansion House has also created 13 prestigious feature bedrooms, many with stunning original features, three large lounges and a conservatory bar. The historic setting provides an elegant backdrop for weddings, with Bailbrook House Hotel holding a licence for marriages and civil partnerships. Bailbrook Court, next to the Mansion House, has 81 classic and executive bedrooms, all of which have been completely refurbished to a high standard, with a brasserie and excellent conference and meeting facilities.

We are very proud that Bailbrook House Hotel is part of Hand Picked and can take its place once more as a fine example of Bath’s architectural heritage. We look forward to people visiting the city to enjoy the renaissance of Bailbrook and for local people to enjoy our superb Hand Picked hospitality.

    What a wonderful story.

Uniqueness is by far superior to price wars....discounting etc.

If one has the ability to create quality over quantity success will follow.

Congratulations Julia....I love what you have set out to achieve
